Blue is a work in process. I googled the word blue and saved the images that came up, in the order the search engine presented them. I then printed them on paper and hand-stitched them together with cotton thread. The idea is to create a giant scroll, to make digital space cumbersome and unwieldy. The piece has to do with building an object, born out of a google search, with the time-consuming and painstaking labour of stitching paper together. Blue also tries to crack open the ways that search engines, through algorithmic processes, have the power to define arbitrary aspects of our everyday experiences, like the color blue.
